Yalvaç, Isparta iline bağlı bir ilçedir.EtimolojiBuraya Selçuklular devrinde yerleşen Oğuz Türk oymağının “Yalvaçlılar” olmasından dolayı bu dönemden sonra yerleşke "Yalvaç" olarak anılmaya başlanmıştır.
"Yalvaç" kelimesi “peygamber, resul, elçi, yol gösterici” sözlük anlamı gelmektedir.
Ziya Gökalp ise kelimenin eski Türkçe’de "sihir" manasına gelen "yalavı" kelimesinden, "yalavaç" sekline dönüştüğünü belirtmiştir.
Yalvaç adı eski Türk kaynaklarında da kullanılmıştır.
Bunlardan Orhun Abidelerinde "Yalabaç" şeklinde, "elçi ve resul" anlamında kullanılmıştır.
Kutadgu Bilig' de ise kullanılan "Yalavaç" kelimesi peygamber olarak kullanıldığı gibi diplomat, devlet memuru ve elçi anlamlarında da kullanılmıştır.Yalvaç’ta Oğuz hanın altı oğlundan (Dağhan) ın birinci kabilesinin adı "Salur" ; ikinci kabilesi de "Eymir" olup günümz Yalvaç merkez ilçesinde bu iki ismi taşıyan mahalleler bulunmaktadır.TarihçeTürk idaresi öncesinde Yalvaçİlçe çok eski bir yerleşim yeridir.
Yalvaç’ta yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda yerleşimin tarihi Geç Neolitik döneme ve Kalkolitik Çağ' a kadar uzanmaktadır.
