Detailed description is NSCC's Women in Transition program is a strength-based supportive learning community of mature students, which is dedicated to easing the transitions to college, career, and life changing possibilities.
The curriculum is designed to meet the needs to women who are interested in coming to college, but may be undecided about their ultimate goal and who can benefit from having extra built-in supports to assist them in obtaining their degree or certificate.
The Women In Transition (W.I.T.) Program meets three days each week, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30am - 1:30pm.
Each semester is 15 weeks long.
Fall semester is September to mid-December and Spring semester is mid-January to early May..

The Women In Transition Program is designed to provide many built-in supports, including but not limited to:.

Two-day Orientation in late August.
Attending Classes with all WIT students, inclusively.
Weekly Support Group Meeting.
WIT Club for Alums and current students.

The program has several supports in place to ensure your success:.

*Orientation in late August for the in-coming students.
Spend two mornings getting to know the other WIT students, familiarizing yourself with the Danvers Campus, taking Assessment Tests in a group, and meeting your faculty and administrators..

*Students have the opportunity to meet once each week within the program schedule for a support group.
This is a time to check-in with and support each other, to learn many resources available on campus and off, to hear from outside speakers about their individual journeys and careers, and to socialize..

*WIT students take their courses together in a class that is only open to them.
The faculty of the program work as a team so as to make sure that any student who needs some assistance receives it in a timely manner..

*There is also a WIT Club for students and alum which offers many diverse opportunities available throughout the academic year..

*The Program Coordinator works closely with the Student Support Center, Center for Alternative Studies, Tutors, Disability Services, and other campus departments that WIT students may need to access..
