Detailed description is Mark Hewitt Pottery Mark Hewitt was born and raised near Stoke-on-Trent in England and moved to North Carolina in 1983.
He specializes in the production of very large planters, storage jars and vases, along with a full range of high quality tableware - mugs, plates, bowls, pitchers, jars, tumblers, teapots, and vases.
He mines and refines local stoneware clays, and his principal glazes are the traditional Southern alkaline glaze and salt glaze.
All his work is fired in a big wood-burning kiln the size of a school bus, which he fires three times a year..

We have three Kiln Opening Sales each year: in the Spring, late Summer, and early December.
We send postcards and emails to everyone on our Mailing List a few weeks before each Sale.
The Kiln Openings are open to the public, so feel free to spread the news and please join the mailing list to receive all Kiln Opening updates and occasional other news.

The sales are fun, lively events, with plenty of pots for everyone.
There are 1500 - 2000 pots for sale at each Kiln Opening.

We hold a Preview on Saturday morning from 8:30am to 8:50am to give everyone an opportunity to admire the work before the sale begins.
Then the previewers are guided back into line, in the order that they arrived in, and we will open up to sell pots at 9:00 am.
No sales are made, nor reservations taken, during the Preview..

The sale continues until 5pm, then again Sunday from noon - 5pm, and the following weekend as well.
Pots are restocked for Sunday, and for the second weekend.
