Willie's was opened by William "Bill" McKee as a retirement business after selling McKee's Market.
Opening in 1972 in Harrisville, Pennsylvania (about an hour north of Pittsburgh), Bill began experimenting with different blends of wood to create the perfect smoked flavor.
Bill found it with a blend of hard woods, which was primarily hickory, to create a flavor that has become synonymous with Willie's products.
Coupling this new smoke flavor with techniques and recipes, which were handed down from generation to generation, word quickly spread of the quality of product sold at Willie's.
