Detailed description is Wharton Esherick (1887-1970) was a sculptor who worked primarily in wood, readily extending his unique forms to furniture, furnishings, utensils, interiors and buildings, creating sculptural environments. Reservations are required and easy to make. Tour the Wharton Esherick Studio: Tours are by reservation only and are all led by knowledgeable docents. The tour, which lasts about an hour and 15 minutes, takes you through five rooms inside the studio and talks about three buildings on site teaching visitors about Wharton Esherick, his work, ideas, architecture and remarkable creativity and sense of humor.. . Tours during the week are reserved for groups of 5 people or more, though groups with less can call to inquire about existing tours they could be added to. . . Weekend tours do not require a minimum number of people and are scheduled per request at the top of the hour starting at 10:00 am (Saturdays) and 1:00 pm (Sundays) with the last tour departing at 3:00 pm.
