Rich in the traditions of hunting, fishing, and sports; it's location in the southern coalfields denies the students and community easy access to the variety of economic, social, cultural, and technological opportunities readily available in the Charleston and Beckley areas.
This results in students coming from homes where a parent, if employed, is usually a miner.
