Wesley is a group of diverse, caring people united in our mission to Lead people to an active faith in Christ.
Our local roots go back to the Methodist Episcopal Church South of Sedalia, established in 1870.
The original frame building was replaced by a new one at Third and Massachusetts in 1891.
When a new building was erected on the same site in 1901, the name was changed to Fifth Street Methodist Church.

In 1954 ground was broken for the current building at Broadway and Carr.
The name Wesley Methodist was chosen by the congregation for the new beginning at this location.
In 1968, with a denominational merger, the name was changed to Wesley United Methodist, reflecting the name of the new denomination.
