We are a group of concerned, loving dog owners who have come together to move the county toward getting a dog park that is more fitting to the growing dog owner community..

To establish a fenced in, off-leash dog park where well-behaved canine citizens can exercise in a clean, safe environment without endangering or inconveniencing other people, damaging property or disturbing wildlife habitats.
To develop a well-maintained space open to all dogs and dog enthusiasts who are willing to uphold the park's rules and regulations.
To view this park as a community project, in partnership with Jackson County, designed to satisfy the needs of dog-owners as well as non-dog owners..

First of all, we would like to thank county for providing the dog run we currently have.
Without this space, we wouldn't have any area to take our dogs off leash.

That being said, more and more responsible dog owners are bringing their dog to exercise there, which really highlight the negatives about the space..

Due to the conditions of the current dog run we’d like to bring these items to your attention:.
-Safety Issues.
*No lights.
*Rogue softballs.
*Holes and rocks and really tall grass at times.
*Random children due to proximity to playground .
*No differentiation between large and small dog areas,.
or simply not large enough to separate dogs from each other.
*Not graded properly / poor drainage … becomes a mud pit after raining.

-No reliable water source.
-Parking is difficult due to games and city events / parking at own risk due to fly balls..
-Not large enough for the volume of dogs that come at peak hours..
-Not large enough to throw a ball without hitting a tree, person, or other dog.

-One Acre or more of land surrounded by a 4-6 foot chain link fence.
The fence should be equipped with a double-gated entry and have a cemented or imbedded fence line..

-Shade for both owners and the dogs.

-Water source - with proper drainage.
-Grassy area that is mowed routinely and has adequate drainage..
-Parking and public facilities close by..
