It was designed by Raymond Clare Nowland and built from 1938 to 1939.
It is also known as University of Queensland Medical School.
It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 24 June 1999.The Marks-Hirschfeld Museum of Medical History is located within the building.
Operated by volunteers, it has a collection of over 7,000 items of medical memorabilia, medical and surgical instruments.
