Introductory courses in Sociology and Anthropology provide a “map” of the exciting elements of our discipline.

• Four new faculty members in Sociology and Anthropology have joined us this year! Dr.
James Thomas (Sociology) studies social inequalities, race and racism, embodiment, and power.
Dr.
Amy McDowell (Sociology) specializes in religion, culture, gender and sexuality.
Dr.
Catarina Passidomo (Anthropology and Southern Studies) uses food and foodways as lenses for studying culture, identity, race, space, and power.
Dr.
Shine Choi, a one-year Korea Foundation Visiting Professor, will teach courses for the Croft International Studies and our Department.
She specializes in relations between North and South Korea..
