In November 2011, Scott was diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer.
Upon his diagnosis, Scott envisioned Unify to Thrive to educate and support young adults affected by cancer.
He spread his message of awareness throughout the country while he toured with his band Thrive.

On December 28, 2013 Scott unfortunately lost his battle with cancer, but the lives he touched through Unify To Thrive during his two-year battle will be changed forever.
