Detailed description is UMass Boston Graduate Program in Urban Planning introduces New England's newest urban planning program focused on equity, sustainability, and resiliency The UMass Boston Graduate Program in Urban Planning and Community Development is dedicated to pursuing research, teaching, and outreach activities aimed at promoting more vibrant, sustainable, resilient and just communities and cities within the Greater Boston Region and beyond..

The program currently offers a two-year (48 credit hour) MS in Urban Planning and Community Development which prepares students for leadership positions in innovative community building, planning, design, and development efforts..

In addition to its professional education activities, the program undertakes, on a cooperative basis with local citizen organizations and public agencies, a variety of applied urban research, planning, and policy-making activities.
Among the projects currently being pursued are Neighborhood Resiliency Planning in Cambridge and the Paul Davidoff Tapes Project..
