Background: Salish Kootenai College is currently the only tribal college in the nation to offer Bachelor’s degrees in forestry and hydrology, and has one of the largest TCU environmental science programs.
Currently approximately 100 Native American students are enrolled in the Natural Resources Department, representing over 20 different tribes.
SKC Natural Resources faculty have also participated in the design and instruction of USFS, NASA and USGS sponsored tribal training programs..

In order to continue to be a leader in the education and training of Native American natural resource professionals, SKC announced in 2013 the creation of the Center for Tribal Research and Education in Ecosystem Sciences (TREES).
