My roots in Burnet County run deep.
Born to Leonard and Carolyn Newton Stephens, both sides of my family were some of Burnet County’s earliest settlers.
My father’s military career led my family to other places as I grew up, but my love for the Hill Country was strengthened during the summers which were spent working with my grandfather, Doug Newton.
Even at an early age, I knew Burnet County was where I wanted to call home..

I earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Texas, and finished graduate-level statistical coursework from the National Graduate School of Quality Management..

Much of my professional career has been in service to others as a law enforcement officer and firefighter.
For nearly five years, I supported America’s military as a firefighter and medic in Iraq and Afghanistan.
When I returned to the U.S., I made certain Burnet was where I called home.
It is here that I continued to serve the public as a paramedic for many years.

My wife, Christy, and I own a small farm off CR 112 and we understand issues that concern us all.
Two of these are traffic safety and county taxes.
I believe there is a need to improve Burnet County roads and infrastructure to handle the projected growth, and to do this in a way that doesn’t further burden property owners who fund nearly 80 percent of the county budget..
