Divine circa 1852.
Some of the features included in that sketch were a large Federalist-style porch, shaded terraces, and many sets of “French windows” to take advantage of cooling breezes during the hot summers.

Divine built his “white house” as a wedding present for his fiancé Jemima Dill.
Jemima wanted a stately home so that she might entertain their guests from neighboring farms in “grand style.” The White House at Churn Creek Golf Course was renovated by Stephen and Deborah Divine for their wedding in 1992.
