The house and property is owned and maintained by it's residents rather than under the supervision of a landlord.
This allows residents flexibility and freedom in their decisions of how to run the household.
The property of The Vine household is owned by The North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO), and grants all residents temporary liability of the house by issuing year to year leases and subleases.
NASCO in no way controls the democratic decision making process of the house, but will provide advice and suggestions on issues.

Responsibilities of living in The Vine include adopting one of the following "jobs" for the duration of the one-year lease: .
-Treasurer .
-Food buyer .
-Gardener.
-NASCO Properties Board Representative.
-Maintenance Coordinator.
-Membership & Events Coordinator.
-Secretary .
in addition to completing a weekly rotating chore from the chore chart; clean bathroom, clean kitchen, sweep porch & stairs, clean living room, clean dinning room, clean basement/laundry, trash & compost and, meeting facilitator.
These jobs and chores allow for a smoothly run and cleanly maintained living space.

The final responsibility of residents is to attend a weekly one-hour meeting where all household residents gather to discuss the progress with jobs and household activities as well as to touch-base with other housemates!.
