Detailed description is This is an exciting new project that aims to record and archive Traveller folklore and history for the National Folklore Collection in UCD.

This is an exciting new project that aims to record and archive Traveller folklore and history for the National Folklore Collection in UCD.
To undertake this job, the National Folklore Collection has asked up and coming actor John Connors to gather together a team of collectors who will interview Travellers all over the country about their memories and experiences of life both before and after ‘settlement’.
This has been a time of huge change for Travellers and this project hopes to record accurately memories of both life on the road and experiences since ‘settlement’..

The Collectors are currently travelling all over Ireland recording interviews that will be placed into the National archive for future generations to learn from.

While this is happening a team from Scratch Films ('Southpaw: The Francis Barrett Story', 'Blood of the Travellers' and 'Unsettled: From Tinker to Traveller') are making a three-part documentary about this work called 'The Travellers' that will be broadcast Wednesdays 28th September, 5th, & 12th October, RTÉ One, 9.35PM.
