Established on May 6th, 2014 by Gene and Tamra Schuelka.
It was originally the dream of their son, Shane Smeltser to become part of the mobile food-truck craze that is sweeping the nation.
The Munch Box was purchased in Hannibal, MO.
Where it began it's journey to the quiet river town of Keokuk, Iowa.
While overcoming various adversities and setbacks the Munch Box continued to move forward.
Upon arrival The Munch Box adopted a new partner; Lance Montgomery, and a new home to create his culinary creations.
That home being the Historic Iowan Hotel located right here where you are standing as you are about to enjoy some of the samples the Munch Box will be serving on a daily basis.
Thanks to the opportunity provided by the building owner Kevin and Jeannie Kuckelman, the Munch Box will be preparing the daily menu from the kitchen located in the basement of the Iowan Hotel.
Our goal is to provide not only a delicious menu for the mobile unit, but a daily special for the residents of the Hotel.
The Munch Box has undergone many changes and makeovers over the course of the last 3 months.
As you can see from the photos, it has been a long and rewarding journey to get where we are today.
