Detailed description is Where local & touring musicians showcase their music on their own or with a pro house band, through a tour-grade sound system, in front of an audience.
In the winter of 2016, for the second consecutive year, two friends went to Los Angeles California to attend the annual NAMM music convention.
During this particular trip, one of the two friends scored a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform at the world famous Viper Room on Sunset Boulevard for their jam night.
Obviously star struck, the two friends immediately noticed that this jam night was unlike any other they’ve ever seen.

Having grown up as accomplished musicians, the two friends were all too familiar with the typical last-minute decision to play 1-4-5 jams during your average jam nights.
This jam night was totally different.
It worked like a well-oiled machine with each song flowing right into the next, with professional musicians from world famous bands pouring on and off the stage alongside skilled unknown players from all walks of life.
The soundman was just as much a part of the band that evening as well, playing enjoyable music and communicating with the band leader, just as a true professional would do.

To the two friends that night, it appeared that no matter what genre of music was thrown at the musicians, they performed it as if they had rehearsed it 100 times together.
It was some illusion considering the musicians had never rehearsed it together once, and were assigned their parts only a few days beforehand to rehearse on their own time.
The ego that is usually synonymous with fantastic players seemed to have disappeared, and was replaced by a overwhelming brotherhood of musicianship.
The constantly rotating musicians on that stage spun a tale from Whitney Houston, to Tool, and everything between.
It was awe-inspiring to say the least.
Not only the musicianship, but the camaraderie displayed by the groups of locals that came out to attend this show, despite its being held on a Monday night during the worst rainstorm Los Angeles has seen in the past six years.

The impression left on the two friends was so everlasting, it made them wonder why every jam session wasn’t conducted in this manner.
Later that evening, during the Uber ride back to their hotel, the two friends discussed what they had just experienced.
One of the friends asked the other, “Why isn't every jam night done like that?” What the two friends took away from their experience was, the organization and passionate musicians are really what made this jam night so successful.
Through first-hand experience and additional research, they felt that they had cracked the code as to how this was pulled off, and could do it even better.
In the simplest terms, it all starts by finding musicians that have an equal desire to perform amazingly well in any genre..
This experience left a lasting mark on the two friends.
It also left a desire to take what they had learned, and produce a similar project in their hometown.
As the light bulb went off, sadness fell over the friends.
The sadness was brought about by the simple fact that they were sure that someone in that audience wanted to be on that stage that night, but were unable to for several potential reasons.
In this particular situation, the reason was that this particular venue only accepted seasoned professionals with years of experience.
The two friends thought this problem could easily be solved by grouping musicians together, based primarily on their skill level.
Doing this would eliminate the fear factor of being subpar, giving the musicians on stage a chance to forget about their inadequacies and confidently perform with other musicians on their skill level - beginner, intermediate, or advanced.
It shouldn't matter how long a musician has been playing their instrument.
Because if there's one thing the friends learned after years of playing music, it's that every musician has some knowledge he or she can offer the next musician.
After all, duration of time playing an instrument doesn't always correlate directly to skill.
To put it another way, it would be like having Kurt Cobain play on stage with Mozart.
Both musicians are incredible in their own right, however, they’re extremely different when it comes to style, technique, skill, and approach.
In the realm of genres they're worlds apart, but they’ve both changed the lives of countless people.
Wouldn’t it be shame if either of these legendary musicians were denied a stage, based solely on one individuals perception of “talent”? Furthermore, imagine how much more interesting Cobain's music would've been had he been afforded the opportunity to share a stage with Mozart, taking in Mozart's style, technique, skill, and approach.
And what about the musicians out there that have a burning desire to play, but can’t afford a quality instrument? Are we so selfish to deny the next Kurt Cobain or Mozart their chance to touch the lives of millions of people, just because they're gear isn't considered top-of-the-line? .
Having all of this in mind, we've taken it upon ourselves to lend our years of performance experience, education, and professional equipment to “The Main Street Jam”, which will be held once a month at Jose’s Bar in Washington PA.
It’s a huge undertaking to bring musicians together, assess their skill level and categorize them based on a multitude of factors, but it can be done! Our goal is to create an environment where both the seasoned professional and the layman can{"assetList":[{"type":"image","data":[""]}],"source":"com.adobe.muse","version":"2.0"} work together on the same stage, finding a sense of musical fulfillment and the shared respect of being on an even playing field, while delivering a polished, skillful performance that everyone will enjoy.
