HISTORY.
Thanks to a group of interested community members, the last standing, unoccupied, original Odawa home on Lamkin Road is being preserved.
Built in 1849 by the King family, the home is located in what was originally the center of Middle Village, a vibrant Odawa fishing community during the 1700-1800’s..

Beginning in December 2014, the group successfully established The King House Association as a 501c3 nonprofit organization and contracted to purchase the home from the King family.

The association plans to restore and preserve the building and grounds and eventually develop displays for visitors and residents alike wishing to learn more about the people and history of Middle Village/Good Hart..

MISSION.
The mission of The King House Association is to purchase, restore, and maintain the 1849 King home in Middle Village/Good Hart in tribute to the rich cultural history of this beautiful locale..

OBJECTIVES.
The association’s first priority is raising $40,000 for the purchase (an 18-month land contract is in place to complete the transaction).
Over $30K had been raised as of August 2015.
The association then has a three year operational budget goal of $60,000 for the home’s roof, windows, doors, floors, logs and chinking restoration.
