“The Homeplace,” as the first generation referred to it, a 350 acre ranch just east of Sonora, was purchased by David and Mary Sanguinetti in 1880.
Both were hard working immigrants from Chiavari, Italy—an area similar to Tuolumne County, if you don’t look toward the ocean..
The development of their new ranch became a labor of love.
They raised nine children, vegetables, and eventually cattle.
The vegetables they sold on a route throughout Tuolumne County and as far east as Bodie..
Six generations later the Gardella family (descended from daughter Amelia) carries on David and Mary’s dream.
