Rose Girouard always had a way to make things a little brighter, a little more easy for the people around her.
Her feathers never seemed to get ruffled by whatever life threw her way.
She was an amazing mother, wife, and friend.
Rose and Norm had three highly energetic boys, Grant, Jeff, and Brent.
To channel all their energy, Rose signed up the three boys to play Little League Baseball in Friendswood, and she helped out wherever she could.
Rose and Jackie Scott organized the Little League concession stand and kept it going very successfully.
They were relentless in their effort to make Little League baseball a great experience for kids in Friendswood.

While rearing her three rascals, Rose still found the time to take a cake decorating class.
And the story of The Cake Lady began.
From her kitchen she made special birthday cakes for her sons and their friends.
As time progressed and more mothers experienced a cake baked and decorated by Rose, an avocation became a vocation.
From her home kitchen , she started taking orders for birthday cakes-- a one woman show.
With time, the orders were more demanding than Rose could handle in her kitchen, so Norm adjusted his garage and the back kitchen with more space and ovens was built.
After only a couple of years, Rose needed assistance to meet the demanding orders, and she opened her first shop right off 518 and 2351 leasing a space in a little strip center.
She expanded her business to include cookies, pies, and wedding cakes.
The business exploded.
A cake from The Cake Lady quickly became a tradition for families in Friendswood.
Birthdays, Holiday, Weddings.
And it still is today..

The Cake Lady doubled its space at the same location and added more employees.
In 2001, Rose then purchased the existing 5,000 sq ft.
building for The Cake Lady Bakery.
Her business continued to grow.
Very few people knew that Rose was fighting a battle with cancer because she never let it show.
She met each and every customer with a genuine smile and a professional attitude.
Rose lost her battle with cancer in 2006, but her legacy continues.
Grant and Brent now spend countless hours fulfilling their mother’s dream and handling their customers with the same kindness and attentiveness of their mother.
