Heavy Metal from Ottawa, Canada The Barrier Reef was formed in the spring of 1987 by Myles Rourke.
After a shuffling period the roster solidified by the spring of 1988 with Myles on guitar, Sean on bass, Alan Currie on vocals and Rob Davidson on drums.
The band recorded a three song demo which gained them notoriety through radio play on Power Chords, on 54Rock.
The Reef played numerous shows at Roxanne's in Hull, Quebec.
Late in 1988 Rob Davidson left the band to work with ex-Exciter guitar player John Ricci on his new project, Blackstar.
Three months later Kevin Fox was added on drums and here began the Mk II classic line-up that many will remember.

2017 - In March the classic line-up re-formed to play a party at The Manor in Dunrobin.
The band had such a great time that they've decided to continue.
The Barrier Reef is currently rebuilding their past catalogue of songs and will be bringing some new material out soon.
