Detailed description is The Taylor County Giving Tree is an important program in which less fortunate children receive Christmas gifts through the generosity of community members! As the leaves begin to fall, we know Christmas is fast approaching and with it comes a time for celebration, family, food, and gifts! However, for many local families, the Christmas season is often a very difficult time of year.
Concerns from low-income families struggling to make ends meet often means children are not able to receive anything beyond the basic, such as a Christmas gift.
The Giving Tree is an important program in which less fortunate children in our community receive Christmas gifts through the generosity of local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
Unfortunately, with job losses, medical bills, increasing food and other costs, this program becomes even more important.

WHAT IS IT? The Giving Tree program is made possible by the generous support from local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
The program has been operating for more than 17 years and for the 10th year, St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church is again administering the program..

WHO DOES IT HELP? This program helps low-income families in Taylor County provide Christmas gifts for their children.

HOW DOES IT WORK? Low-income applicants indicate what gifts their child would need or like for Christmas.
The requests are not just for toys and games but often for basic needs such as: jackets, hats, gloves, shoes, socks, pants, shirts, blankets, etc.
Each organization is then given a list of children to buy for (childrens’ names are kept confidential).
Most places hang the gift information on tags on a Christmas tree at their place of business.
The gifts are dropped off (unwrapped) at St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church by December 10th and then wrapped and distributed to the families in time for Christmas.
