Below you can find a short bio:
I, Taeke Wiebe Doekes Taekema (born January 14, 1980 in Leiderdorp) and I'm a Dutch field hockey player, who won the silver medal with the national squad at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. I'm most famous for my penalty corner drag flicks. I made made my debut on January 28, 2000 in a friendly match in and against Egypt. Since then I've played over 200 international matches and scored over 200 goals.
During the 2007 EuroHockey Nations Championship, I struck a record 16 goals, including a double hat trick against Belgium in the semi-finals. In celebration of my record breaking feat, sportswear maker adidas introduced my limited edition TT10 hockey stick, whose name incorporates my initials and jersey number; TT10.
In the past I've played for L.O.H.C. (Leidsche en Oegstgeester Hockey Club) before moving to HC Klein Zwitserland, where I was topscorer of the Dutch League (2002-2003). I was a team member until the spring of 2005. In my last season for HCKZ I went and played in New Zealand and Australia. In New Zealand I played for Canterbury. We managed a 2nd place in the NHL. Then I went to Australia to play for New South Wales, where we won the NHL! I had a great time travelling and met lots of good friends in that period!
SInce July 2005 I'm playing for AH&BC (Amsterdam). This is a great club in Holland.
