School Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) schools are the one place in the world where eight schools equal 23! Many years ago (>25 yrs) it used to be a small chawl, and then they constructed a 4 storied building, which they demolished due to its ageing structure and constructed a new building.
Shortage of school buildings and other infrastructure have forced TMC to house many schools in one building.
The buildings have a name and the schools within them are known by numbers.
So Kisan Nagar School, in fact, houses four schools: School Number 23, 33, 102 and 103.
Similarly each school within one building has its own principal and teachers.
Each school is allocated shelves and cupboards with the school number on them.
