Detailed description is Sweet Child Perú supports Andean children to be nourished and housed so they can attend school in the Sacred Valley, Cusco.
Our 501c3 is Sacha Munay.
Our mission is to learn from, nurture, and preserve the existing wisdom, traditions, and lands of the world while co-creating a way forth that meets the challenges of the present.
We are a USA organization with a 501C3.
All donations go to support our current project 'Irqichay' based in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru.
We also just finished bringing two wisdom keepers from the Andes of Peru to the USA to share their insights and healing and raise awareness for our projects.
Our dorm is for the children that are sent to go to school far from home where there is little respect for their ancient traditions.
Traditions that can help all of us re remember our connection to the earth.

'Irqichay' translated from Quechua means "dear sweet child".
We have rented a house very close to the Sillacancha primary school to be used as a dorm for 15 children who attend this school.
The first dorm opened May 30th.
These children as well as several others have been targeted as at risk for neglect as they have been living in unsafe conditions in order to receive an education in a public school far from their villages.
Many families who live in the High Andean communities send their children up to six hours walking to a public school so they can learn to read and write.
Our children walk 2 to 3 hours and they do not return each day but remain in the valley floor sleeping alone or together Monday though Friday in abandoned houses without adequate care.
They do not have support and are failing in school as well as living in conditions where they are not able to feed themselves, keep warm let alone able to have the tools to succeed in school.
Some children in order to earn their bed are required to work for their hosts after school and much abuse has been reported.
They are not learning from their grandparents or parents who carry the ancient traditions still in place today in the Andean mountains and they are not learning at the public school.
We know this because we have worked for over a year doing an enrichment program in the Sillacancha primary school working with these children.
We have a waiting list still of 30 children and we would like to open two more houses.
One for boys and one for girls.
Our current children were chosen by the principal of the Sillacancha school and the co directors of the dorm Karolina Marti and Mariela Mejia Martinez after a process they set to determine the most at risk children.
Two of our children actually live close to the school but were targeted as needing emergency care.
The parents were also involved in their decision to trust that we will take good care of their children and a commitment by them to serve the dorm and their children in what ever way they can.
Our program is to engage the parents of the children in the daily life of the dorm on a rotation basis to help maintain the facilities as well as support their children teaching them their cosmology.
We hope to be able to have a rotation of parents sleeping at the dorm with our hired house parent and cook and from that exposure we hope to hire one or two of the parents if there is a good fit to work at the dorm to be closer to the children.
The dorm is open Monday to Friday and one day a month on Sunday..
