In March of 2009, business partners Kara Shamsa Houck and Thomas Merrill began their practice in the hallway of My Pilates Place with 4 chairs.
They moved their practice to its present location in 2010.
Thomas left the practice in 2011, leaving the practice with Shamsa.
In the Fall of 2015 when Shamsa's husband was accepted into chiropractic school in Portland, Or, they decided to make a big change in their lives and move out West.
Candice Craig had been practicing privately here since July and was given the opportunity to buy the business.
Shamsa and Candice became friends over the years that she was a patient of the clinic and both Thomas and Shamsa gave her incredible support while in school.
She is blessed to be able to continue their vision of offering affordable acupuncture..

Two years ago, psychologist Dr.
Tara Louchery, moved her counseling practice to Sufi.
Together, their vision is to create a wellness center that offers yoga, meditation, dance, qi gong, among other classes.

Community Acupuncture is offered in a community space.
Patients remain clothed.
Acupuncture needles are placed primarily from elbows down and knees down with some auricular, scalp and face points, as well.
This enables our patients to receive acupuncture regularly.

Private Acupuncture: $60-100 Sliding Scale (initial treamtent is $10 extra).
Candice uses 5-Element acupuncture in the private room, where she can spend more personal time with patients.
Some patients are more comfortable with one-on-one treatments.
She can see you in our private room in order to accommodate these needs.

Massage: 30 minute - $40 & 60 minute - $70.
Candice practices Swedish, Deep Tissue, blending in other bodywork modalities she has learned while taking continuing education classes.
She can tailor your session to meet your needs.

15 minutes can also be added to a private acupuncture session for $15.00.

Psychotherapy: $50-100 (Initial Appointment $75-150).
Psychotherapy can be helpful for many different mental, emotional, and behavioral issues.

Candice Craig is the new owner of Sufi Acupuncture & Healing.
She grew up in Hagerstown and is excited to be a part of the revitalization of downtown.
She is honored to be able to practice in her hometown and to share her love of acupuncture and other healing arts.
She received her degree, Master of Acupuncture, from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly Tai Sophia) in May of 2015.
She began treating in the student clinic there in May of 2012.
She is also a licensed massage therapist having graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage in 2000.
She attributes her studies of massage therapy to deepening a lifelong interest in the healing arts.
She will be offering community acupuncture, private 5-Element acupuncture, massage, and Reiki.
She is also a musician and has played many shows in Hagerstown and the surrounding area over the years.
Dancing and yoga are an important part of her life, as well.
Over the years, she has learned that either moving her body or creating music makes it easy to let go of emotions and thoughts that do not serve.
