At one time you could go to almost any town in the area and there was a square dance club.
Now only the Hayloft Steppers is left in sturbridge and beyond that the average distance is 40mins for the next dance club.

The Hayloft Steppers had started in 1960 in the small town of Brookfield,MA dancing is one of the Founding members basement, it later moved to East Brookfield.
In 1969 members found a small Barn located on Podunk Rd in Sturbridge.
They purchased the barn and 1 full acre, with help from many members and friends they expanded the barn to include the now famous floating Floor.
Today there one of the largest clubs in New England with members from MA and CT, Ages from children to grandparents and everything inbetween.
