Detailed description is 11 Lahaie Noelville, Ontario P0M 2N0 En 1966, deux ans avant le Loi 141 permettant la fondation d’écoles publiques de langue française, le Sudbury Board of Education décide de desservir sous un même toit les élèves de langues anglaise et française.
Cette astuce a permis d’ouvrir la première école secondaire publique de langue française dans un territoire découvert par Champlain.
C’est ainsi que sous la direction de M.
Paul Chauvin, l’École secondaire de la Rivière-des-Français/French River District Secondary School ouvre ses portes à 185 élèves..

En 1998, avec l’avénement des conseils de langue française et l’agglomération des petits conseils de langue anglaise, l’édifice a été transféré au Rainbow Board of Education qui a accepté de louer des locaux au Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord de l’Ontario.
Trois ans plus tard, à cause de la baisse des effectifs, le Rainbow Board of Education a dû fermer les portes de French River District Secondary School et par la suite, a vendu l’édifice au Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario..

Depuis son ouverture, l’école a accordé 1 731 diplômes et compte parmi ses diplômés de nombreux professionnels, entrepreneurs et technologues qualifiés.
