The Young Student Parent (YSP) program is a comprehensive support program for students trying to balance the responsibilities of parenting, family, and work with the goals of achieving a college education and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, Carlton County Public Health and Human Services, and Fond du Lac Reservation Public Health and Human Services are partners in this effort..

Who qualifies?.
Our target group is male and female students that are parenting and/or expecting a child, and are between the ages of 18-35 years old.
Student parents that are near the target age and are parenting young children will be accepted.
As part of our outreach effort, we also accept young parents in the community that are thinking of returning to school..

What services are offered for participants?.
Participants are offered academic advising, a strong support system, special workshops and presentations, free tutoring services, nutrition education, financial counseling, parenting and parent/child classes, free health screenings, connections and referrals to on-campus and off-campus services and activities...

In addition, program participation will be rewarded with incentives for life's essentials like gas cards, grocery cards, Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Bookstore gift certificates, and Wal-Mart gift cards.
Participants earn points and rewards for attending parent/child classes (free meal and childcare provided), workshops, tutoring sessions, club meetings, one-on-one visits with the YSP coordinator and free parent-child home visits with a public health nurse.
