The Steel City Malibu Club was formed in 1983 and has survived the ups and downs of membership numbers ever since.
The club is more social than competitive and most surfers are happy to have a good time without having to win their heat.

The club contests are held at Dixon park on the second Sunday of the month from February to June and then September to December.
Some of the crusty old members claimed it was too cold to front up in winter.
The only exception to the rule is the May contest which is held on the 1st Sunday of the month so we don’t upset any of the mothers by having an event on Mother’s Day.
