Henry was founded as the high school of St.
Henry parish in 1933.
It was later converted into a district high school of the diocese as enrollment grew.
The increasing number of students mirrors the significant growth of the Catholic population in Boone County during the later years of the 20th century.
Covington Bishop Robert William Muench was a major supporter of the high school, and he oversaw a campaign to build a new facility.
The bishop's fund-raising campaign, which was conducted throughout the 1990s, managed to obtain enough money for construction to begin in 1996.
