Andrew's Lutheran Church serves both Finnish and English speaking congregations.
Services are held at 9:00 am/Finnish and 11:00 am/English.
Pastor Mia Hagman: pastor.miahagman@gmail.com In the late forties and early fifties an increasing number of people came to florida for lengthy winter vacations or for retirement to live here permanently.
Many of those who settled in the Lake Worth-Lantana area had migrated from Finland and still had strong ties to their native land.
In 1953 the First Congregational Church voted to organize the congregation and join the Suomi Synod.
In 1960 the "official language" of the church was changed to English, since not all members spoke Finnish.
By 1960 as the church grew, we decided to merge with other Lutheran churches and by 1988 these synods became members of the new Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (E.L.C.A.).
In 1965 the completed new church and Sunday School rooms of a spacious courtyard were dedicated.
By 1981, our activities increased so much and the congregation had grown so large that our bi-lingual congregation was able to hire our first associate pastor.
Through the 80's the church was busy and well-attended.
The past two decades have quieted the church and we are hoping to reinvigorate our ministry and attendance.
We currently have one pastor, Pastor Viveca Auer and are maintained primarily through the dedication of our volunteers.
We welcome you to church as we endeavor to continue a great heritage, blessing to our community and an authority in our community.
