Detailed description is The Mercantile stocks a full-range of hardware; but today also includes a sporting goods department, housewares, gifts, lawn & garden, wine, liquor, & beer There’s been a hardware store in Solon Springs for as long as anyone can remember.
In 2002 Ken & Meg Thoreson responded to a classified ad in the Northwoods Shopper indicating that the store was for sale.
Solon Springs Hardware was a helpful place, chock full of parts and supplies located in the community’s downtown business district.
After taking over in 2002 Ken and Meg worked hard to continue the store’s reputation for having what people needed to get the job done.
In June of 2004, the little hardware store downtown suffered a total loss fire.
So Ken and Meg took a gamble and moved the business closer to US Highway 53, west of the downtown business district…and tripled its size.
Today, Solon Springs Mercantile continues in the tradition of having what customers want – where they need it – smack dab in the center of the natural beauty of Northwest Wisconsin.
The Mercantile still stocks a full-range of hardware; but today also includes a sporting goods department featuring what you need to enjoy the hunting and fishing opportunities the area’s lakes, streams and forests afford.
