Masonic meetings were held at Snow Creek before the old church and Lodge were erected in 1872.
At that time, the nearest chartered Lodge, now extinct, was Vincent Wicher Lodge No.
87, (chartered on December 15, 1852 and inactive in December 1886), located in the community of Callands, Virginia.
The Brethren of Snow Creek, desiring to establish their own Lodge, requested a dispensation from the Grand Lodge of Virginia, empowering then to open a Lodge in their community.
The recommendation was made that the following officers be appointed:.

The dispensation was granted and Snow Creek Lodge was instituted early in the year of 1869.
Records show that on June 25, 1869, a meeting was called and the bylaws were adopted.

The building was a two-story frame structure, 30 x 40 feet, with the ground floor being occupied by the Snow Creek Christian and Snow Creek Methodist Churches, while Snow Creek Lodge occupied the second floor.
This building was utilized until a new building was constructed in 1953.
