For those who have never used an SR3 before but want to shoot on film, we offer free introduction and tutorials included with camera hire.

A: Film is far from dead, in fact Kodak has been increasing in film sales each quarter over the last few years.
Shooting film in Australia does require a bit more work than shooting in LA, however there are still lab and telecine services available.

A: Our offer on onset service is purely to answer questions about the operation of the camera in a consultant manner.
This is not a service that we charge for.
If our schedule does not permit us to be there we will not be able to come to set.
If you want us to work as camera crew on your film there would be additional crew fees..

Q: Why did you guys buy a film camera in the age of DSLRs, Mirrorless and digital cinema?.
A: We had an idea based from our passion for film, and study in filmmaking.
After shooting stills on film for a number of years, and having the opportunity to shoot on 16mm at University, we fell in love with the medium and decided to purchase a camera..

Q: Why would I shoot on 16mm film as opposed to 35mm?.
A: 35mm does give a sharper image, finer grain and higher resolution.
However 16mm has a unique grainy lo-fi look to it.
It is also a lot cheaper.
For lower budget productions shooting on 16mm is far more economical.
Also using good quality lenses and a decent telecine the film can get a very good looking 2k output.

A: Our camera uses an ARRI PL mount, we only have one lens currently but the camera is compatible with any PL mount lens that is super 16mm compatible (There is a 2.4x crop factor).

Q: What is the Optar Illumina 8mm T1.3?.
A: It is an 8mm Prime Lens (the focal length is approximately equivalent to a 20mm lens on a 35mm camera) with very good optics and a fast aperture.
Illumina is a Russian company, their lenses are based off Leica glass.
We have used the lens, alongside Zeiss primes and the sharpness and quality has been comparable.
