The UQ Dow Centre brings the Sustainability Innovation Student Challenge Award (SISCA) to the University of Queensland.
This $12,500 (AUD) competition, sponsored by the Dow Chemical Company, runs in more than 15 Universities globally.
It aims to promote and cultivate fresh ideas, innovative thinking and sustainable practices that balance environmental, societal and economic benefits.
At UQ SISCA advances sustainable development in engineering, helping further Dow’s commitment to create positive change for tomorrow..
Submissions for the competition can be entered till the 11th of September 2016.

The entry must present an engineering innovation associated with sustainable production and utilisation of energy, materials, food or water in line with the spirit of Dow’s 2025 Sustainability Goals:.

The team must be comprised of one or more UQ enrolled students.
Previous SISCA winners are excluded from the competition..

Applicants should complete the SISCA 2016 application form downloadable from the Dow Centre's SISCA webpage at http://www.dowcsei.uq.edu.au/sisca.

Finalist teams will be required to give a presentation describing their project in front of the judging panel and an audience consisting UQ’s academic leaders in sustainability issues, representatives from Dow, members of the public, and finalists’ family, friends and peers..

Proof of Concept / Development Grant:.

Those who have the beginnings of an idea, but need funds, lab access or mentoring to further develop it into a more mature business plan can apply for a Proof of Concept / Development Grant of $2,500 each.
The Dow Centre Seed Fund has up to 10 such grants available in 2016.
