Detailed description is We raise happy, healthy Mini Jersey cows and sell the raw milk through our herdshare program.
Our herd is grass fed and hormone and antibiotic free.
History of the Dairy.
Simply Natural Dairy us located on Desiderata Ranch Private Park.
We have had horses on our farm for more than 20 years, but the cows came in 2010, The idea for the dairy came from reading the Swiss Family Robinson book.
I realized that if we were every in an catastrophe, I would not know how to provide for my family.
We were totally dependent on the economy and what we could buy from others around us.
This scared me and motivated me to start working toward a more self sufficient lifestyle.

It has been a long road to travel and it has not been an easy one.
Our first cow ended up being barren and we were never able to get a calf from her.
Our third cow,was horribly negliected when she arrived and it took over a year to get her back to healthy condition.
We purserved and now we now have a happy, healthy herd of 4 cows, 3 calves and a great little bull..
In 2013, the farm was devasted by the 1000 year flood.
We lost nearly everything, but luckily the house was intact.
The among the most important losses was our large barn.
I milked outside under an umbrella while we scrambled to get a milking parlor built.

We also lost all of our pasture and winter hay supply.
We were able to get through the winter on donated feed and were just starting to rebuild our long term feed supply, when we were hit with the 2015 tornado.
The tornado did not hit as directly, but we were once again flooded by the 4.5 hours of hard rain and hail that came with the storm.

We were able to make it through the winter once again, but it reinforced our need to become self-sufficient for animal feed too.

It is now 2016 and we are deep in the recovery process.
We just purchased a new tractor to replace the one lost in the flood.

We are also hoping to have a new full sized barn finished by the end of summer.
We have a long way to go, but in the end, the farm will be better than before the two natural disasters.
