Nithyananda Nagar is situated between Mangalore-Dharmasthala, along National Highway 234, at a distance of 2.50 kms from B.C.
Road Junction and 0.5 kms from Bantwal town.
The origin of this Kshetra can be traced to the year 1923.
It was in that year that, while touring across India, and proceeding towards the north performing miracles at various places, Bhagavan Nithyananda had entered Bantwal, which situated on the banks of River Netravati in Dakshina Kannada district – regarded as Parashurama Shristi.
The unique occasion became the prelude for the future emergence of this place as a religious and social centre..
On the occasion of Nithyananda’s visit to Bantwal, many people looked down upon him and humiliated him.
Assuming him to be a madman, some mean minded people even hurled sewage water on him and mentally humiliated him.
Thus deeply hurt, the swamiji ascended and sat on top of a tall tree on a hill.
It is said that all of a sudden, a storm erupted from nowhere and the entire Netravati raidly swelled up with fury, like Ganga, submerging entire Bantwal town in the floods and those who had humiliated him lost all their belongings in the disaster.
It is learnt that later, after the culprits sought pardon from the swamiji, the flood subsided.
It is evident that it was at this Nithyananda Nagar that Bhagavan Nityananda had come for meditation on this occasion..
Afterwards, responding to the encouragement given by Paramapoojya Govinda Swamiji, who was one of the great disciples of Nithyananda, a mandir was consecrated here.
Due to this reason, by the grace of both gurus, Bantwal prospered.
By the divine grace and blessings of Bhagavan Sri Nityananda and his foremost disciple Sri Sri Govinda Swamiji, and the cooperation of all devotees, for the past 47 years, excellent religious and social activities are going on here..
On 15th May, 2003, the renovated mandir was consecrated and since then, many developmental activities have been happening.
Every year in the mandir, community Satyanarayana Pooja, Ekaha Bhajan Program, Sri Krishna Janmashtami Utsav, Sri Varamahalakshmi Vratha, Gurujyothi Darshan, Bhajan Sankeerthan program for nine days during the holy month of Shravana, Anna Santarpana (community meals) on auspicious days, distribution of educational scholarship to poor students, distribution of clothes to the poor, encouraging students through yoga training and value based education, conducting free health check-up camps etc are going on, along with Bhajan recital every Monday night, distribution of prasadam etc.
During 2011-12, in order to commemorate 50th Anniversary of Mahasamadhi of Bhagavan Nityananda Swamiji, the mandir organised ‘Sri Nithyananda Sahasranama’ Havan and free mass marriage program under the guidance of Paramapoojya Sri Sri Vijayananda Swamiji Bevinakoppa, Belagavi and we are happy to inform that these programs were successfully performed with the blessings of Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda and Govinda Swamiji.
