We serve our own blend of coffee, Ammo, roasted locally on the North Shore..
We love coffee and enjoy fresh, quality food made from the best produce.
We moved back to Sydney in 2006 and were overwhelmed by the great number of quality local coffee roasters and cafes, but thought the Lower North Shore needed a few more edgy cafes serving excellent coffee.
So the hunt for premises began.
We had an accidental but very enjoyable detour to Redfern where we owned and ran Appetite Cafe for three years before stumbling across 1/307 Military Road..

We are Aydin Kumral, owner and barista and Fiona Kumral, owner, cafe designer and occasional jam/chutney maker…Having lived in the UK, Turkey, New Zealand and Australia and travelling through Europe we have sampled a lot of coffee and experienced all the highs and lows of brilliant and “blah” coffee..
Opening Shot on Military has been an adventure and a bit of a challenge with the signing of the lease and the arrival of our second baby happening on the same week.
But I think we have managed to create the cafe we pictured – a sophisticated, trendy space to appeal to families, locals, commuters and workers..

The space is designed to create many talking points, – from the five tonne concrete bench to the lights made from 44 gallons drums to the hand printed wallpaper that Fiona had to work hard to convince Aydin to purchase..

Our vertical pallet garden and five metre high bamboo are homage to Aydin’s landscaping days and the jar lights and indoor picket fence are the results of letting Fiona get creative with the recycled materials..
Our coffee is available in the cafe or you can buy a bag of fresh or ground beans to take home..
For now we are open Monday to Saturday.
