Merkez İlköğretim Okulu Seydişehir de Eğitim-Öğretime açılan ilk okuldur.Yapımına 1936 yılında başlanmış, 1939 yılında üç sınıflı ilkokul olarak eğitim-öğretime başlamıştır.
Okulun tamamı vatandaşların katkılarıyla yapılmıştır.

Yapıldığı yıllarda birinci kat salon olarak kullanılmış, zamanla ihtiyaca cevap vermeyince birinci kata üç dershane ve tuvaletler eklenmiştir.
İlk açıldığında Seydişehir’de tek okul olduğundan ismi Merkez olarak belirlenmiş , çevre köylerde okul olmadığından köylerin öğrencileri de Merkez İlkokuluna gelince kalabalık bir mevcuda ulaşınca çift öğretime geçmiştir..
İlk yıllarda Seydişehir’in okuma yazma oranının yükselmesinde büyük rol oynayan Merkez ilköğretim okulu şimdide vatandaşların katkılarıyla yapılan onarım ve tadilatlarıyla Seydişehir in merkezinde bir kartal yuvası gibi Türk Milli Eğitimi’ne hizmet vermektedir..
Okulumuzun Seydişehir’in Eğitim ve Öğretimi için ayrı bir önemi vardır.Açıldığı günden buyana eğitim ve öğretimde ilçemize öncülük etmiştir.Şimdiye kadar nerdeyse bir ilçe nüfusu kadar mezun vermiştir.Bu özelliği ile sadece Seydişehir’in eğitim öğretimi değil ülkemizin eğitim öğretim açısından da önemli bir yeri vardır.Merkez İlköğretim uzun tarihi boyunca Atatürk devrimlerinin bekçisi,çağdaş eğitimin öncüsü olmuş ve olmaya devam edecektir.Amacımız Fikri hür,Vicdanı hür,geleceğe güvenle bakabilen insanlar yetiştirmektir..
Şimdiye kadar binlerce mezun vermiş,mezun olanların bir çoğu devletin yüksek mevkilerinde hizmet vermektedir..
