Plus d'un millier de bateaux "de caractère" et de tradition, répartis en flottilles cohérentes et identifiables, qui naviguent tous les jours et varient leurs escales entre ports et mouillages.
Résultat : une fête maritime "éclatée" qui anime l'ensemble du Golfe du Morbihan.
C'est la géographie particulière et les spécificités physiques de cette "petite mer" (ses îles et îlots, l'étroit goulet qui la sépare et la protège de la haute mer, les marées, les courants et contre-courants, le clapot) qui déterminent et rythment tout le programme nautique de la manifestation..

Un rendez-vous pour les bateaux du patrimoine naviguant .
La "Semaine du Golfe" réunit des bateaux de toutes les tailles et de toutes les traditions maritimes : voile-aviron, petits voiliers traditionnels, yachts de la plaisance classique, anciens voiliers de pêche et de travail, vedettes anciennes à moteur… Ils viennent majoritairement des côtes atlantiques françaises mais aussi, et de plus en plus au fil des éditions, des îles britanniques, de la Mer du Nord, de la Scandinavie, de la Méditerranée...
(10 nations représentées en 2015)..
La manifestation accueille également à chaque édition une bonne vingtaine de "grands voiliers" spectaculaires du patrimoine européen, trois-mâts, bricks, goélettes à hunier, ketchs, yachts prestigieux.
Parmi les fidèles : "Oosterschelde", "Kaskelot", "Phoenix", "Matthew", "Iris", "Bessie Ellen".

Tous les équipages inscrits à la "Semaine du Golfe" (près de 5.000 équipiers en 2015) sont de purs amateurs qui viennent pour le seul plaisir de se rencontrer et de naviguer dans un site splendide et une ambiance maritime authentique.
Ils sont les invités de la manifestation et des ports du Golfe.
Sur l'eau, toutes les flottilles bénéficient de programmes et de parcours spécifiques qui sont encadrés par les associations nautiques locales.
Plus tard au port, d'autres bénévoles prendront en charge les mouillages, le déroulement des soirées… et les mille et un petits problèmes de toute organisation collective.

La "Semaine du Golfe" propose tous les ingrédients d'une grande fête populaire attirant un très vaste public :.

Over one thousand of traditional and character boats, divided up into coherent and identifiable flotillas, sailing every day and stopping in various ports and anchor points.
The result: a "bursting" maritime festival, bringing alive the whole of the Golfe of Morbihan.
It is the particular geography and the physical characteristics of this "small sea" (its islands and islets, the narrows which separates and protect it from the high sea, the tides, the currents and counter-currents, the choppy waters), which determinates and rhythm the whole nautical programme..

The "Semaine du Golfe" gathers boats of every size and every maritime tradition: sail&oar craft, small traditional boats, classic yachts, old fishing and working boats, classic motorboats… Most of them come from the French Atlantic coasts, but also, and more and more edition after edition, from The British Islands, the North Sea, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean… (10 nations were represented in 2015)..
The festival also greets, at each edition, over twenty spectacular tall ships from the European maritime heritage, three-masts barks, bricks, topsail schooners, ketchs or prestigious racing yachts.

All the crews who register in the "Semaine du Golfe" (almost 5,000 crewmen in 2015) are pure amateurs who come for the mere pleasure to meet and to sail in gorgeous surroundings and a genuine maritime atmosphere.
They are the guests of the festival and of the Gulf harbours.
On the water, all the flotillas can enjoy their own specific sailing programmes and routes, which are supervised by the local nautical clubs.
Later on in the harbour, other volunteers will manage the moorings, the guidelines of the "evening party"… and the countless small problems of any collective organisation..
