Detailed description is STUDENT CHRISTIAN MOVEMENT OF INDIA The Idea of having student centre was born at a discussion which concluded a quiet day,the members of the Trivandrum SCM spent at the K.U.T Seminary,Kannanmoola.Anticipating that the centre will be used as the venue for many many Similar quiet days in which the students and their friends will spend their time in meditation waiting for God's guidance in fulfilling their mission in and to the world..
The construction of SCM student centre in Trivandrum is a clear example of how God come to the aid of a small group of dedicated people having faith in their mission .When a plan for a fourstoreyed structure was drewup many were sceptical as to from where the money could come.But a small group of dedicated people started going from house ,to house approaching persons in all walks of life for contribution,by organising musical evening by K.J.
Yesudas and by various other programmes raised sufficent money for buying a plot in a good location .
Dr.Stanley Johnes laid the foundation stone during a dedication service on 14th March 1966.Through the able guidance of Mr.M.K Kuriakose and the building committee members consisting of both young people and senior friends of the SCM,the work of the Centre started in october 1970 .W.C.C , I.C.L and other several organisations also extended their support.On 1st October 1972 the SCM student Centre building was inaugurated by Rev.Dr.E.V Eugine.C.Blak the General Secretary of W.C.C
