BEGINNINGS .
Initially raised on a Western Kansas farm, Perry grew up in central Kansas working summers in the fields of Kansas farms picking apples and cutting wheat.
Leading early, Perry became class president at Hutchinson Community College while serving on nonprofit organization boards before he was twenty.

Subsequent work for an industrial firm working with heavy equipment gave Perry an appreciation of the heavy industry that makes Kansas strong.

BRINGING KANSAS VALUES to the WEST COAST .
Perry accepted a company transfer to the West Coast, and completed his first degree at San Jose State College.
But while other fellow students focused their education to get rich in nearby Silicon Valley, Perry brought Kansas-style caring to focus on those left behind in California's high-tech economy.

With a handful of cash and volunteers, Perry began one of the most effective homeless shelters and soup kitchens on the West Coast, serving thousands of individuals and drawing praise from leaders throughout the region.

Schuckman opened several medical clinics, managed food service programs and opened several homeless shelters.
Attention for his work included recognition in the Guinness’s Book of World Records for outstanding student philanthropy.

Soon, his organization had been joined with another, and he was Director of over 100 staff and thousands of community volunteers of one of the largest enterprises of its kind in the United States.

COMING HOME to KANSAS — SERVING & LEADING .
When his mother developed Alzheimer's disease, Perry returned to Kansas to be close to her in her final years.
During that difficult time, Perry gained a greater appreciation of the needs and challenges of Kansas' elderly, and their caregivers.

Upon returning, Perry began looking for ways to use his talent for serving others, right here in Kansas.
To strengthen his skills, he earned his Master’s degree in Public Administration at Wichita State University.

From this goal, he found his role as the leader of the newly-formed Kansas Nonprofit Chamber of Service, an innovative program bringing modern business-style "chamber of commerce" leadership, guidance and fellowship to businesses focused on people over profits.
