Sarah grew up first in Glacier National Park, and then Acadia National Park.
She has lived in the temperate rainforest, the high desert, on the ocean, in a Zen Monastery in Japan, in an Old Growth tree, and in India.
It is her love of mountains and rural places helped me settle in Black Mountain,NC in the heart of Appalachia..

Working with clay is a daily meditation.
It brings me (Sarah) back to the direct moment, the specific placement of now, as making pottery requires focus and presence.
I am a potter to help clear my mind and heart while also running a nonprofit I founded called the Eco-Chaplaincy Initiative, where I offer mediation and pastoral support services for environmental and social justice activists.
Centering clay helps keep me centered, and producing pottery helps sustain all of my work..
