La manifestazione chiamata "SAPERI E SAPORI DI…..MATAROCCO" abbinata alla Rassegna del Folklore Siciliano viene realizzata in una contrada, abbarbicata su una collinetta posta alle spalle della città di Marsala.
La contrada prende il nome da un piatto estivo: il matarocco, un condimento per pasta e bruschette noto solo nella nostra città.

La manifestazione è un iniziativa del presidente del gruppo folk dei " I PICCIOTTI DI MATARO' " Massimo Gabriele.
Nata nel 2008 in collaborazione con il suo gruppo folk e con la collaborazione degli abitanti della contrada che intende sollecitare in modo particolare i giovani a rivisitare un mondo che oggi può sembrare più lontano di quanto esso sia; sollecitarli a riscoprire e rivalutare la civiltà contadina attraverso la ricerca e lo studio delle musiche popolari dei balli e dei costumi.
La storia, la tradizione, il folklore e la devozione sono gli elementi fondamentali della manifestazione che vuole essere di richiamo turistico ottenendo di anno in anno maggiore successo e migliorando l’aspetto organizzativo grazie ad una attiva collaborazione con gli abitanti della contrada.
Si vuole rendere la manifestazione un punto d’incontro tra diversi Gruppi Folklorici della nostra terra e mettere a confronto i vari aspetti della cultura popolare e folklorica in segno di PACE e FRATELLANZA..
