Detailed description is Sainte-Colombe-des-Bois est une commune française située dans le département de la Nièvre, en région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.ToponymieLe nom de la commune rappelle celui de Colombe de Sens, jeune fille qui subit le martyre au à Sens dans l'Yonne.On relève les formes suivantes du nom de la commune : Sancta-Colomba-in-Nemoribus en 1535, Colombe des Bois pendant la Révolution française, de 1789 à 1800, Sainte-Colombe pendant la seconde moitié du.
Le village reprit son nom d'origine en 2001.HistoireLa première mention du nom de la commune remonte à 1535.Seigneurs Messire Joachim de Chabannes, chevalier, seigneur de Sainte-Colombe-des-Bois, mort en 1685.ArmorialLieux et monuments Église classée à l'ISMH construite aux avec une cloche datant de 1710 et cinq statues de pierre polychromes.
Sur le mur reliant l'église au presbytère, une pierre de provenance inconnue porte l'inscription : « N ICY CE DONNE LE GRIS 1691 » (avec les N inversés).
La même inscription pouvait se lire autrefois près de la cathédrale de Bourges ainsi qu'à Dun-sur-Auron (Cher) et est toujours restée mystérieuse.
Selon certains auteurs, le mot "gris" désignerait le sel, selon d'autres le pain gris qu'on distribuait aux pauvres.
