Detailed description is Royal Family Kids Camp is a 5 day resident summer camp specifically designed to meet unique needs of children who have been abused and abandoned.
Every year in the United States there are about 3 million reported cases of child abuse, abandonment and neglect.
In Arkansas that number is over 4000.

These children do not start their lives with the same advantages and experiences that other children do.
Quite often there are no baby books, little league baseball, dance lessons, family vacations or even sit-down family meals… Instead they have pain, rejection, criticism and feelings of hopelessness..
We at Royal Family Kids Camp work together with the Arkansas Department of Child Services along with volunteers from local churches to give these kids a summer vacation that they will not forget..
From moment they arrive at camp registration they are treated with the respect normally reserved for royalty..
After a short bus ride on a grand tour bus they arrive at the campground where a throng of eager volunteers await them..
As each child steps down off the bus they are announced to the cheering crowd and are united with a volunteer whose main purpose is to provide them with a week full of life-changing memories..

During their week at camp they are exposed to a number of new and exciting activities.
Hiking, fishing, rock wall, arts, crafts, games and of course swimming..
These activities are designed for fun and to help each child find success.
Self-esteem issues loom large for abused children but at camp everyone is a winner..
Each day starts out with a big family breakfast.
All meals are done sit-down family style to help reinforce normal family dynamics..
After breakfast the kids embark on their daily activities until just before noon when we have chapel time..
At chapel time we share the message that God loves them and He has a plan for their lives.
This is great news to children who feel that no one loves them and that they have no future..
After lunch it’s more activities and gender segregated swim time..
In the heat of the afternoon we have a break time where the children can rest and nap if they want to.
Although it is never solicited, it is during these quiet times that the children often open up and discuss the trials they have endured and also where they find out that they are not alone on this journey..
Each day after the evening meal we have a special event for the children to attend..
On Mondays a group of volunteers bring horses to the campground.
The children get to meet the horses, learn about horses and of course each child gets to ride a horse..
On Tuesdays the girls are treated to a princess party.
Their hair and nails are done, makeup applied and they are dressed up in beautiful party dresses..
The boys are treated to a football themed tailgate party where they eat tailgate food and play safe, non-competitive football games..
On Wednesdays it’s everybody’s birthday party.
Often these children do not get birthday parties so we give them a party with cake and ice cream, party favors and of course gifts for each child..
On Thursdays it’s hayride, campfire and s’mores.
We will have entertainment and sing campfire songs until the coyotes howl.

On Fridays we finish up our arts and crafts in the morning hours and pack up all the treasures they have collected during the week..
After lunch they get back on that big tour bus and ride back to the church where they have a final celebration program and they are reunited with their caregivers..
The children and their caregivers are made aware of the children’s programs that are available at the churches who have participated in the camp program and they are encouraged to attend..
The children are also invited to attend camp next year and every year until they exceed the age of 12.
We are working on programs that will continue to minister to the children that have aged out of the camping program.
We have a concept for the program but at this time we don’t have the funding or volunteers needed to implement the program..
