It has been nearly 10 years since Anna Rose, the baker, realized gluten was making her sick and gave it up for good.
Almost 4 years ago she did the same with sugar.
Before making these changes, however, she was a serious gluten eater with a strong sweet tooth.
After giving up gluten, it didn't take long to realize that there wasn't a great bread or muffin or scone or cookie alternative on the market - especially not a decade ago! At first, she just gave up eating those things, but eventually decided she wanted to be able to enjoy a piece of toast for breakfast or make herself a sandwhich that didn't just disintegrate in her hands.
She also wanted to be able to indulge in a cookie that would melt in her mouth, not dry her mouth out.
